1. About TaxiTap

TaxiTap is a trading name of Gomo Empire (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa with registration number 2024/021373/07("TaxiTap", "we", "us"). Registered office: 1263 Kruger Road, Margate, KwaZulu-Natal, 4275. Business address: 88 Forest Road, Bramley, Johannesburg, 2090. Directors: Sisikelelwe Gomo. TaxiTap is a seat-booking service for long-distance minibus taxis. We sell bookings that hold a seat for you on a route and travel date at a taxi rank we work with, and let you board before passengers without a booking.

TaxiTap does not provide transport and does not collect fares. The trip is between you and the taxi operator. You pay your fare in cash to the driver at the rank, as usual.

2. Bookings

• A booking is for a seat on the route, not on a specific taxi. You travel on the taxi the marshal is loading when you arrive, in the rank's normal order.
• Taxis travel rank to rank under their operating licences. Passengers can only board and get off at the ranks shown on your booking, not along the way.
• The booking fee is shown before you book. It is the only amount you pay TaxiTap, and it does not include your fare.
• Book in the name of the person travelling: the marshal may check it at the rank.

3. Your account

• You sign in with your cell number and a one-time code we send by SMS. Signing in for the first time creates your account. Your bookings and tickets are saved in My tickets.
• If you don't want an account, you can book as a guest with an email address, and we email you your ticket link. Keep that email: it is how you get back to your ticket.
• Keep your phone and the codes we send you private. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You can ask us to close your account at any time.
• Give us accurate details, including your name and a number you can be reached on.

4. Paying the booking fee

You pay the booking fee by EFT into TaxiTap's FNB business account, using your booking reference as the payment reference. Your booking is confirmed once the payment reaches us. We hold your seat for 24hours while you pay; if we haven't received payment by then, the booking is cancelled and the seat released. TaxiTap does not ask for or store your card or bank login details.

5. Tickets

• Each booking has a private ticket link. It becomes your ticket, with a QR code, once your payment is confirmed.
• At the rank, show the live ticket page to the marshal, who scans or checks it. Screenshots and printouts are not accepted.
• Each ticket can be used once. Don't share your ticket link: if someone else uses it first, it can't be used again.
• Tickets may not be resold.

7. Ranks and drivers

Ranks and taxi associations that work with TaxiTap agree to hold seats for booked passengers and to check tickets. They earn a commission from TaxiTap on booked seats. Drivers pay TaxiTap nothing and collect fares in cash as usual. Taxi operators remain responsible for their vehicles, drivers, licences and the trip itself.

8. Acceptable use and privacy

You must use TaxiTap in line with our Acceptable Use Policy. We process personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. Subject to the law, TaxiTap is not responsible for the transport service itself, including the taxi's departure time, the journey, delays, or loss or injury during the trip, which are the operator's responsibility. Nor are we responsible for delays caused by banks or network outages outside our control. If we or the rank can't give you the seat you booked, we refund your booking fee in full.

10. Website content

The images, 3D models, text and other content on this website are provided for viewing on this website only. You may not download, extract, copy, republish, retransmit or otherwise reuse them, including as stand-alone files, without our written permission. Some 3D models and photographs are used under licence from third parties.

11. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will show the date of the latest version on this page. Bookings already paid for are governed by the terms in place when you booked. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
