Who is responsible
Gomo Empire (Pty) Ltd (trading as TaxiTap, registration number 2024/021373/07) is the responsible party. Our Information Officer is Sisikelelwe Gomo, contactable at support@taxitap.net.
What we collect
- Your account: your cell number, used to sign in with SMS codes.
- Bookings:the passenger's name, WhatsApp number, route, travel date, number of seats and booking reference, and for guest bookings, the email address you give us.
- Payments: the amount, date and reference of your booking-fee EFT, and the payer details shown on our bank statement. We never ask for your card or banking login details.
- Boarding: when your ticket was checked and used at the rank.
- Waitlist: your WhatsApp number, and optionally your name and the route or area you mention, used only to tell you when TaxiTap reaches you.
- TaxiTap apps: if you use the rider or driver app, the details you add there and your approximate location while you use the map features.

Why we use it
- To take bookings, confirm payments and issue tickets.
- To send you sign-in codes, booking details and tickets by SMS, WhatsApp or email.
- So the rank can check you in and board you.
- To handle refunds, disputes and support requests.
- To prevent fraud, such as copied or resold tickets.
- To pay ranks their commission and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and payment records for as long as tax and financial laws require (usually five years), and account information for as long as your account is open or as needed to resolve disputes.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, close your account, or object to how we use it, by contacting support@taxitap.net. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Security
We use access controls and encryption in transit to protect personal information. Ticket links use long random codes, each ticket can be used once, and only the rank's marshal can board passengers.
